Hello
My name is Shandy and I lose sleep over writing introductions about myself. (Time stamp 3:22 am)
My two greatest talents are laughing at inappropriate times and crying at heart warming commercials. My husband and I are food critics, but only for tacos (his are the best). Our kids are also food critics, everything is yucky (except for dad's tacos). I homeschool to avoid school pickup lines and to keep my kids weird. I enjoy grandma hobbies like quilting, baking and reading. If my births were songs the first one would be called "What the Heck was That?" The second one would be "Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me" and lastly, "NOW That's What I Call Birth. Vol 3"
I'm an unapologetic member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. God called me to birth work much sooner than I planned and proves to me 'why' with every woman that I serve. I believe birth is to be enjoyed. It is sacred and sanctifying and everything that I love about being a woman. I strive to use my unique gifts and talents to help women birth with Christ. Witnessing the power and beauty of a woman fulfilling the measure of her creation as she transitions into motherhood is one of my greatest joys!
My Why
After a birth, women often tell me "I couldn't have done this without you." And while I don't think that's entirely true--women are stronger than they know--it does bring me a lot of joy to know that I was able to impact their birth in such a way that my role was vital to the outcome. I wasn't there just to be there. I served a purpose and I served them.
My own homebirth and my incredible doula are what led me to do this work. I had such a sacred and beautiful birth and I want EVERY woman to have a joyful experience as well.

My Beliefs
It's important that your birth team shares your values. Here are a few of mine!
01
Undisturbed
Birth works best when left alone. Yes, complications can arise. However, God created the perfect design for birth and it works most of the time *if* undisturbed.
03
Informed
To fully surrender to God’s will, a mother must be knowledgeable of all her options by seeking guidance from the Spirit and increasing wisdom through trusted sources.
02
Spiritual
Birth is a physiological process, a physical feat and a mental game. Above all else, it is a spiritual test to align our will with the Father’s and reach our potential as His Spirit Daughters.
04
Trust & Faith
A woman should trust the Lord to lead her through each step and only invite people into her birth space who will do the same.
Fear creates tension in the body and disturbs the natural flow of birth. Faithful and purposeful surrender empowers women to enable the atoning power of Christ.
